Book in advance - Generally, the lowest fares are available when you book in advance. So book as early as possible before your travel date.

Ferry bookings can be made any time, even up to the day of the travel. However, if you wish to book in advance for your own peace of mind, this is fine too. All ferry companies differ about when you can actually make a commercial ferry booking. These can range from 2 months to 7 days in advance.

Formentera has an excellent network of 32 'green routes' of rural paths and tracks. Much of the terrain is flat, so walking is a perfect way to explore the island.

The nightlife in Formentera has only one name: Es Pujols. This is in fact the main touristic town of the island, but above all, the epicenter of the nightlife.

Meat (traditionally pork or lamb) and seafood are common, supplemented by rice dishes and fresh salads. Very few ingredients are ever wasted and most leftovers go back into a stock to be reused to make a range of soups and rice dishes.

The regular ferry takes an hour from Ibiza Town to La Savina, whilst you also have the choice of the fast ferry which takes only 30 minutes, ideal for day trippers. Only around 12,000 people live permanently on Formentera; however, during the main season this increases to many more.

Alternatively you can hire a car at Ibiza airport, and take it across to Formentera on the ferry. Just make sure your car hire company will allow the car to be taken to Formentera before you cross.

There are six towns and villages in Formentera, but the capital is Sant Francesc, which with 3000 inhabitants is the centre of island life. Here you'll also find some of the best-known markets on the island, together with a range of services and restaurants.

There are three taxi ranks on the island where you can take a taxi and these are located in the main villages of Formentera. This way you will save the cost of hailing a taxi. One is in La Savina and is located just outside the ferry ticket office.
